With the rapid advancement of technology, it’s only natural to wonder how close we are to having artificial intelligence (AI) robots in our everyday lives. After all, AI has already infiltrated many aspects of our lives, from the way we bank and shop to the way we get our news. So, just how far are we from having actual AI robots?
While there is no definitive answer to that question, there are a number of factors that suggest we may not be as far off as you might think. For one thing, the global market for service robotics is expected to grow from $6.1 billion in 2019 to $17.8 billion by 2025, according to a report by MarketsandMarkets. This suggests that there is significant interest in service robotics—which would include AI robots—from both consumers and businesses.
In addition, the same report found that the healthcare sector is expected to be the largest adopter of service robotics, with a compound annual growth rate of 22.4% between 2019 and 2025. This is due in part to the fact that AI robots can provide assistance with tasks such as lifting and moving patients, dispensing medication, and even providing companionship.
Finally, it’s worth noting that some of the world’s largest companies are already investing heavily in AI robot technology. For example, Amazon has developed a home robot called Echo that can perform a variety of tasks such as setting alarms, playing music, and adding items to your shopping list. Similarly, Google has developed a home robot called Home that can also perform various tasks such as playing music and answering questions. Clearly, these tech giants see potential in AI robot technology—which suggests we may not be too far away from having AI robots in our homes.
It’s hard to say exactly how close we are to having AI robots in our everyday lives. However, given the rapid advancement of technology and the increasing interest in service robotics from both consumers and businesses, it’s safe to say we may not be too far off from this becoming a reality. In fact, some of the world’s largest companies are already investing heavily in AI robot technology—so it may only be a matter of time before these devices become commonplace in our homes.
